Project Overview

The specific connotation of "Traditional Chinese style" may vary greatly among different individuals. We choose to transcend the limitation of specific symbols on visual communication. By deconstructing and reassembling the implicit threads embedded in cultural sediment, we establish connections with the shared sentiments found in traditional culture, using color and texture as intentional references.
By narrating through materials, a purer sensory experience is achieved. It feels like waking up from a dream, familiar yet unexplored. The blurred boundaries of language leave an imaginative aftertaste during dining.

Project Brief

With cleverly hidden smoke vents using the original structure, two dining areas are formed at different heights. This releases the tension caused by partitions and creates a sense of spaciousness. The open dining area allows for control of privacy through table distances and lighting.
The bar, facing the entire open area, serves as the visual centerpiece of the restaurant. It focuses primarily on showcasing the beverages, with minimal decorations. This allows guests' gazes to quickly and accurately linger on the dazzling selection of drinks, immersing themselves in the experience.
The stage is located at the center of the project, serving as the core of the circular layout. The stage's design allows guests to view performances from various positions, providing a multidimensional dining experience.
Giant circular lanterns echo the stage's design and can house equipment within them, while also providing visual privacy for the second-floor private rooms. Cascading red velvet drapes create an expanded sense of vertical space.

Project Need

The essence of hospitality has remained deeply ingrained in our cultural DNA from ancient times to the present, despite the changes that have taken place. The second floor of the restaurant is designed with fully enclosed private rooms, surrounding the central open space with a void at the center. The private rooms can also serve as viewing platforms for observing performances. The folding screens can be used to separate the indoor dining area from the stage area when guests prefer not to be disturbed by the performances.
Amidst the gradually bustling sounds of plates and glasses, as night falls, the fusion of blues and sizzling grills creates a harmonious contrast of warmth and coolness. The courtyard lights up and outdoor dining allows the senses to immerse in the fragrance of nighttime flora, creating an enchanting and unforgettable experience.
We created a spring-filled garden close to the window, allowing green plants to participate in the space and harmonizing the color tone of the restaurant, enriching and beautifying the indoor landscape, while also better purifying the air, bring people a good sensory experience
On the path leading to the restaurant gate, we use old blue bricks as the flooring material, bringing associations with traditional culture while reducing material waste.

Design Challenge

The owner of this case demands to add partitions to meet business needs, however, the net height of less than 6 meters is also covered with various cables and fire-fighting facilities. As a barbecue restaurant, smoke exhaust is required at each dining table position, making it very difficult to add partitions in the space. How to create a comfortable dining experience in cramped spaces was the biggest challenge. So we designed and customized special dining tables, cleverly attaching and hiding many smoke exhaust and air facilities in the structure, striving for more space height, enriching the sense of hierarchy, and avoiding the common situation of "raising the entire restaurant" in similar projects. At the same time, we use colors, lighting, layout, and structural forms to mitigate these impacts, providing customers with a clean dining environment that is consistent with regular restaurants, as well as a flat and convenient route.

Sustainability

The bamboo fence inside the restaurant is woven by skilled craftsmen on site, not only bringing a tranquil atmosphere to the restaurant but also reducing the generation of construction waste and costs.
Considering the high local temperature in summer, we chose to use the east side as the only lighting surface to avoid the high temperature from afternoon to evening, which effectively reduces indoor air conditioning usage and energy consumption. At the same time, it also fits the restaurant's deep tone of oriental charm.
In the design process, we try to use recyclable and naturally degradable materials as much as possible. The interior of the restaurant is extensively coated with lightweight and environmentally friendly paint, which is pollution-free. The interlayer is constructed of steel structure, which can reduce the impact on the original structure, meanwhile, this material can be reused, which follows the concept of sustainable development. The wooden boards on the walls are processed by firing more economical pine wood, avoiding the use of paint, and can be recycled or naturally degraded.
