Project Brief
alkimi studio was engaged by One International Towers to strategically plan, design and deliver multiple speculative suites and premium shared spaces on Level 39, Tower One, Barangaroo. The design objective is a collective shift in perspective from a basic fit-out approach to a new premium offering, whilst embracing established wisdom of the past. The resulting global disruption and workplace challenges following the COVID pandemic inspired a fresh design approach and concept of enlightenment and new beginnings.
Highly considered planning accommodates a variety of discrete teams, brought together through shared exclusive on-floor facilities including an elegant boardroom, quiet rooms, and an inviting working lounge. Multi-functional joinery elements and creative spatial design provide flexible options for use.
Biophilic design is utilized throughout the spaces, and visible in the optimization of natural light, living greenery, and natural forms taking shape in bespoke joinery elements.
alkimi studio partnered with suppliers who have active working relationships with indigenous artists. These designs are integrated within fabric choices throughout the suites. Finishes and furniture selections are refined and elegant. Warm and creamy tones are met by deep contrasting colors, creating a sophisticated synergy. Utilizing premium finishes and furnishings, the crafted design aligns with the building’s acclaimed quality and amenities.
Project Innovation/Need
alkimi studio worked closely with the client and leasing teams in the creation of a new market approach in the delivery of premium speculative suites, challenging the commercial leasing climate. The collaborative result is realized in the strategic design approach, exceeding the expectations of the market.
The suites provide a rare opportunity to connect both local and international business leaders, encouraging a diversity of minds, and scale of enterprises, to create an integrated community. This turn-key solution offers premium and unprecedented design and build, all within the vibrant Barangaroo precinct.
Design Challenge
The design for the Level 39 speculative suites celebrates a renewal of workplace design whilst rejuvenating and celebrating a tried-and-true classic aesthetic.
The design introduces innovative spatial concepts, challenging traditional notions of functionality and aesthetics. Through strategic planning and pathway-based circulation, versatile placement and arrangement of furniture, multi-functional spaces, and adaptable design elements, the project redefines how workspaces are utilized and experienced. Elegant, curvaceous forms are paired with warm timbers and textural furnishing to embody a play between new and established philosophies.
Sustainability
As a central focus, sustainability influenced every aspect of the design process from conception to execution. Throughout the project, sustainability is prioritized with the integration of eco-friendly materials, the implementation of energy-efficient lighting solutions, and furniture and décor sourced from environmentally responsible suppliers. Furthermore, the project uses low-VOC paints to promote better air quality and a healthy environment.
Interior Design - Commercial
This award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
